ECO-UNESCO's New Community Development Course (FETAC Accredited Module - L3)


Community Development (NF 2951)

This module runs over a flexible 15 to 30 weeks period and is based on 10 teaching sessions and allows for additional optional opportunities for group project action execution.


Learners who successfully complete this module will:


·acquire a general knowledge and understanding of the term ‘Community Development’

·develop an awareness, knowledge & understanding of community development principles both in theory and in practise

·develop skills of problem solving, critical thinking, relational thinking, decision making/consequence learning and self awareness

·develop practical analytical skills through the mapping of a community

·develop communication, project planning and facilitation skills

Update:

·The ECO Youth CHOICES programme is currently piloting, monitoring & evaluating ECO-UNESCO's new FETAC L3 accredited Community Development module in Drimnagh Castle secondary school

·After completing the module at end of January 2010, the 24 Transition year participants will in pairs deliver ECO-UNESCO's alternative approach to Drug Misuse Prevention through Environmental Education in 12 interconnected sessions as part of the Social Personal Health Education (SPHE) formal curriculum to first year students.

·As such the participants will graduate as Peer Educator facilitators in May 2010.
