This course provides an understanding of the interactions between society, economics and the environment in the context of sustainable development.
Participants will gain an understanding of the principles behind sustainable development through case studies and interactive education for sustainable development methods.

In addition they will create a vision of a sustainable community and examine the potential for local and global sustainability.

By the end of this course participants will have gained the skills to understand the term 'sustainable development', identify local environmental issues, conduct an environmental audit and devise local sustainable development indicators.

Environmental officers, teachers, youth leaders, community leaders, academics and anyone interested in understanding the concept of ‘Sustainable Development’ through practical activities.

This course would also appeal to those who are interested in pursuing a career in sustainable development and looking for further clarification.



ECO-UNESCO's Introduction to Sustainable Development (FETAC Level 5)

OPTION 1: 10-Week Course
Introduction to Sustainable Development (FETAC Level 5)
This 10-week course, delivered over 12 weeks (with a 2 week break), provides an understanding of the interactions between society, economics and the environment in the context of sustainable development. Participants will gain an understanding of the principles behind sustainable development.

Dates: Every Thursday beginning 7th Oct
Time: 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Location: The Greenhouse, 17 St Andrew Street, Dublin 2
Fee: €200 ECO-UNESCO Members, students, unwaged; €220 Voluntary and Community Sector; €240 Statutory

OPTION 2: Intensive Course
Introduction to Sustainable Development (FETAC Level 5)
This intensive course provides an understanding of the interactions between society, economics and the environment in the context of sustainable development.
Over two 1½ day blocks, participants will gain an understanding of the principles behind sustainable development.

Dates: Fri 29th & Sat 30th October ¦Fri 26th & Sat 27th November
Times: Fridays 2:00 pm – 7:30 pm ¦Saturdays 10:00 am – 7:00 pm
Location: The Greenhouse, 17 St Andrew Street, Dublin 2
Fee: €200 ECO-UNESCO Members, students, unwaged; €220 Voluntary and Community Sector; €240 Statutory
