There are 3 overall winners of the ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards:

  • Overall Senior winner
  • Overall Junior  winner 
  • Overall SuperJunior winner

Category Awards

NEW Category Image YEA2013Winners: There are Junior & Senior winners of each of the 10 categories. *Super Junior Age group is non-category specific and is awarded as a separate special award.

Please note that ECO UNESCO reserves the right to eliminate and/or combine categories where there is a low number of entries or where entries are deemed not to have reached the required standard. In this situation there might not be an award made in each category.

Highly Commended: Highly Commended framed certificate for the group and each group member will receive a 'Highly Commended' certificate. These are awarded to non-winners who have scored outstanding marks.

Shortlisted Project: All shortlisted projects recieve a framed certificate and each group member will receive a 'Shortlisted project' certificate.

Certificate of Participation: All non-shortlisted projects submitted recieve a certificate of Participation for each group member.

Presented to the best of our youngest Young Environmentalists in this new (non-category specific) age group (10-12).

ECC R registered logoA special ECO-Art & Design Award sponsored by Alupro Ireland for groups who look at fresh and green ways of reusing aluminium packaging (ex: drinks cans) in an environmentally frindly way to demonstrate the many ways aluminium may be reused and recycled.

WasteMatchers Award
The 'something new from something old' award. Sponsored by Cork County Council, this category is open to Cork groups only. See www.wastematchers.com for more details. 

Local to Global Award 
For projects which show exemplary commitment to raising awareness of Global Justice and Sustainability Issues.

People's Choice Award
The public vote online for their favourite project! Youtube, myspace, friends, family & Facebook - use whatever it takes to get those votes… this one’s in your hands....

ECO-Leader of the Year
The Leadership award recognises outstanding ECO-Leaders who go above and beyond to encourage and support young people in their eco-action. ECO-UNESCO wants to recognise the great work done by ECO-Leaders through the Leadership award. All ECO-Leaders are eligible for the Leadership Award.

ECO Sustainability Award
ECO-UNESCO’s ECO Centre and Organisation Award for organisations leading the way to a sustainable future

ECO-UNESCO’s new sustainability award- the ECO Award- is designed to assist youth organisations and community organisations wishing to contribute towards building a more sustainable future. The aim is to reward and celebrate youth organisations at each step along their journey towards sustainability.
