"There’s a radical – and wonderful – new idea here... that all children could and should be inventors of their own theories, critics of other people’s ideas, analyzers of evidence, and makers of their own personal marks on the world. It’s an idea with revolutionary implications. If we take it seriously." - Deborah Meier
In 2009 ECO-UNESCO will select 10-20 young people aged 15-18 years to participate in the Youth for Sustainable Development Peer Education Programme. In this programme young people will get the opportunity to learn about sustainable development and development education; develop leadership skills and become peer educators.
Youth for Sustainable Development Peer Education participants will take part in:
- Up-skilling sessions to help participants develop their critical thinking skills, facilitation skills and to encourage positive personal development
- Non-formal education sessions using debates, guest speakers, drum facilitation, arts, urban safaris and more
- Outdoor Education days
- Events and activities throughout Dublin and nationwide
- Development of the ECO-UNESCO clubs programme (a great opportunity to help shape the direction of a new programme)
ECO-UNESCO's Youth for Sustainable Development programme also counts towards the Bronze GAISCE award.
Join our next Youth for Sustainable Development Peer Education Programme starting 24 February 2010 to find all sorts of new opportunities coming your way.
